A 4 week beauty round up..

Okay so I've finally put down the chocolate and picked up my laptop..

So I thought I'd do a quick round up of the things I've been loving in the past 4 weeks. I was going to skip this post but then I realised I did actually find myself using some different products than the month before. I've included a couple of bits I got for Christmas but some are just pieces I've purchased myself. They are more high end which wasn't intentional, it's just the things I've genuinely  been loving.

Primer is a step I had recently been skipping, mainly because I was rushing for work in the mornings! I had ran out of my SmashBox matte primer anyway and needed a new one, so I went back to an old favourite and repurchased the Mac Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Primer. This goes hand in hand with the Mac Light Boost concealer which is also from the Prep + Prime range, and gives an instant glow from under the foundation.

I didn't actually realise when I was picking out my favourites that three of them are from Laura Mercier! I found this quite amusing as this is a brand I hadn't used before until December, and now it's safe to say I'm obsessed. The first one which is now a staple in my makeup collection and something I use everyday, is the Translucent powder. I love this so much! I set my base with this everyday and it never lets me down. I work in a little cafe and although it isn't ideal to wear makeup when cooking because it's bad for the skin, I do wear it and it stays in place perfectly when I set it with this.

The next one is a cream eyeshadow stick from the Christmas Matte to Metals collection. I featured the whole set in my Last Minute Gift Guide but this one in particular I love. The shade is called Rose Gold, which is perfect because the colour comes out exactly that! It's like a really subtle metallic copper tone and looks amazing on its own and blended out at the edges. The staying power of this is really impressive too which is just an added bonus!

I've also been loving a scent from Laura Mercier which is the Eu De Toilette from the Ambre Vanille range, This smells absolutely divine! I feel instantly relaxed when I wear this, there's just something really calming about it. It smells of honey and vanilla just like the bath souffle from this collection, and I've found myself spraying it on my pyjamas after a bath to keep the scent that little bit longer.

The Nip and Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Serum is a new additional to my skin care routine since my best friend Jade bought it me for Christmas. I'd heard of the range but never tried it before, and I absolutely love it! It's really lightweight and gives an instant shot of hydration to the skin. My skin feels plumper when I use it and I've also noticed that since I've added it into my routine, I've had hardly any breakouts and any redness isn't as noticeable. It's my new lifesaver!

My final favourite for last month is a Lip Cheat lip liner from Charlotte Tilbury in the shade Pillow Talk. My mum got me this for Christmas along with the Penelope Pink lipstick and together they make the perfect combo. Pillow Talk is a pinky nude shade (you know I love me some pinky nude!) quite similar to Mac Boldly Bare but feels slightly creamier and glides onto the lips better.

That's everything for my favourites but I have loads of new makeup to review so hopefully now that Christmas is over my blogging pattern will get back to normal. Thank you to everyone who has read my blog in it's first year I can't actually believe people want to read it! If there's anything else you'd like to see please let me know in the comments or over on Twitter and Instagram. Here's to a fab 2016!

Thanks for reading x

  2. I'm a recent convert to primers and I'm loving the dermalogica one at the moment but I only have a tiny sample and I have to wait for the end of the month before I can get a proper tube of it. I might try out that Mac one to tide me over :-)
