Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette

The long awaited fourth edition to the Naked family has finally arrived and my god was it worth the wait! I ordered Naked Smoky the day it became available in the UK, and although my initial panic set in when it was sold out on the Urban Decay website, I calmed down when my Naked Smoky order went through on Selfridges.

So if we take a look firstly at the packaging. I love the smoky marble look of the case, and I've noticed every palette has a slightly different smoky pattern on it which is cute! In my opinion, the packaging of this palette is better than the previous three. It is a hard plastic with a full width mirror on the inside and a magnetic clasp to keep it secure. I've seen people say they still wouldn't travel with Naked Smoky but I went away with it at the weekend and it was fine! It was really secure and we got there and back undamaged, winner! The brush that comes with the palette is actually really nice (I'm usually skeptical about free brushes) it is double ended so I used the smaller end for the inner corners of my eyes and the larger end for blending out the shades.

The palette itself is made up of 12 shades, 4 shimmers, 4 satin, and 4 mattes shades. 9 of these are completely brand new (sometimes shades are repeated in palettes) and 3 exclusives. Call me sad if you wish but anything exclusive excites the life out of me haha. I like how they have switched up the format of this palette compared to others, starting it with neutral shimmers, then the dark satin shades, and then it goes back lighter with brown and nude mattes. I'm really in to matte smokes at the minute so up to now these four are my favourites. From what I have tried so far all of the shades seem really blendable, and the longevity of them was brill over the top of the UD eyeshadow primer.

I have used the palette a couple of times now and I'm really happy with it! I used Dirty Sweet and Radar for a bronzey glow with it last week, and the shades were all so pigmented! I was impressed but at the same time it was expected, given the high standard that was set with the previous palettes. I did see some fall out from the more shimmery shades which is a bit annoying but if you apply your eye shadow before your base this shouldn't be a problem.

This palette is great for anyone just starting out with makeup because although it is the Smoky edition, there are still so many looks that can be created that are neutral and sultry. With powdery nudes,warm bronzes, rich browns and deep blacks, the Naked Smoky palette is one of the most versatile yet and a definite staple in my make up collection.
